Krk island is among the favourites of tourists thanks to its beautiful beaches. The majority are pebble beaches, sometimes with built-up stone terraces and in places sand. The fine sand, the gradual entry into the sea or the pleasant shadow of a nearby pine copse make these beaches ideal for a family with small children. Some beaches are located directly in summer resorts; you can reach others by car in the course of a day trip around the island and enjoy pleasant bathing in a natural setting. Most beaches offer the opportunity for refreshments and in some places restaurants. The beaches closest to Kornić are:
Located about 3.5 km from Kornić, in the eastern part of the town of Krk, beneath the Koralj and Dražica hotels. The pebble beach is well equipped: there is a buffet on the beach with good coffee and light meals, and above the beach is a pine copse with a restaurant and the opportunity to rent sunbeds. A part of the beach – the bay under the Koralj Hotel – has a sandy bottom. A promenade leads from the beach along the seaside to the ancient town of Krk, a walk lasting some 15 – 20 min. A component of the facilities the rental of water bicycles, kayaks and floating jumping castles for children.
The picturesque small port town of Punat is located about 2.5 km from Kornić. After circumventing the whole town in the direction of Stará Baška, before the exit from the town there is a directional board with a turn to the right – to the beach. After descending from the hill you come to several paid car parks at the end of the road (7 HRK/hour; 28 HRK/day) in the immediate vicinity of pebble beaches. They spread out over an extensive area, with several restaurants and coffeehouses nearby, in addition to children’s attractions, such as a water slide, swimming pools, treasure hunting using a diving helmet and water bicycles.
A sandy beach located 13 km from Kornić, near the village of Risika on the eastern side of Krk, between the towns of Vrbnik and Šilo. The gentle slope into the water is suitable for children in particular.
Soline bay was named due to the extraction of sea-salt which was done here from the beginning of the Christian era up to late medieval times. The concrete pier, 290 m long and leading into the sea, has been known and used during its entire history. Today is repaired and enables access t the middle of the bay. On the unaltered natural beach are places with black curative mud, which is a favourite and much sought-after tourist attraction. The water is warm and very shallow; for 100 m it is only about knee-deep, which is suitable and safe especially for small children. Soline Beach is located about 15 km from Kornić (in the direction of Vrbnik, before Vrbnik to the left to Dobrinj).
A smaller pebble beach located perhaps 900 m down the hill from the village of Kornić. On the beach is a restaurant with all the classic meals from fish and shellfish, as well as pizza and other dishes. Water sports attractions are also located in the vicinity: a water-skiing course with a tow and a diving centre.
The largest beach. It is 1.8 km long beach at the end of Krk in a tourist resort. This is one of the most well known beaches in Croatia. The beach is a combination of pebbles and sand. Along the beach is a promenade with many restaurants, coffeehouses, galleries and shops. Distance from Kornić: 18 km.
The most beautiful ancient little town on the island, with narrow streets, restaurants and coffeehouses, galleries and homemade shops, the famous production of the well known wine from this region – Vrbnička žlahtina. In Vrbnik there is a smaller pebble beach more suitable for adults. Distance from Kornić: 6 km, in the direction of Baška.
The beach is located immediately beneath the village of Pinezići, on the western side of Krk, about 8 km from the town of Krk. Beyond the town of Krk it is necessary to follow the turn to the left to Valbiska and the Krk-Cres Ferry.
FKK (naturist) beach, found after going around Baška from the left side. This is a closed campground with paid entry or parking, crystal clear water and brilliant built-in facilities (children’s playground, tennis court, restaurant, coffeehouse, rental of sunbeds and beach umbrellas...). Distance from Kornić: 21 km, in the direction of Baška.
Located about 8 km from the town of Punat. A sandy beach is located here on the north and in the centre a pebble beach and to the south a mud beach. It is possible to get to the central part on foot; a car must be parked on the main road on the hill. Distance from Kornić: 13 km.
The marking of a beach with a blue flag means that in addition to a guarantee of clean and inspected water (by testing samples for the presence of bacteria), the cleanliness of the beach itself and its surroundings is also guaranteed.
